Editorial policy
Select Music Review aims to make music writing attentive, fair and clear. We separate interpretation from verifiable detail and make room for readers to hear things differently.
Accuracy and review
We check factual statements against suitable sources and review wording for clarity. Musical interpretation is presented as interpretation, not settled fact. When a piece relies on a particular recording or version, we identify it clearly enough for readers to follow the discussion.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial relationships. Any paid, gifted or otherwise partner-supported material is clearly labelled where it appears, so readers can tell what kind of content they are reading.
Corrections
If a reader identifies an error, we assess the point and correct confirmed mistakes. Significant changes are identified in the relevant piece so that readers can understand what was amended.
Images and illustration
Images are selected to support the subject and are not presented as evidence of a listening experience. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where used, they are identified as illustrations rather than documentary images.
Good listening starts with curiosity
There is no single correct way to hear a record. We offer useful language for noticing choices, asking better questions and enjoying another listen.
